Matt Soul Story

By Tyler Wilson

It's a hot morning as Matt Soul gets up. He hears his parents arguing. "We don't have enough to pay the rent." "Well who's fault is that?" "You don't work, you lazy bum. We never have two cents." "So who's the one who's spending here there and everywher?" It starts to escalate when they talk about how bad Matt's grades are. "He sucks at math." "He sucks at everything." Matt is getting ready for school. His dad starts banging on the door screaming "you get out here, right now." "You are a total loser," the father yells. He lifts his fist and brings it down on Matt's cheekbone. Matt screams in pain. He starts to cry. "Oh now you're crying like the little girl you are!" He leaves for school and trips going down the stairs. He falls, and cuts his lip. As soon as he gets to school, his friend Sam asks him what happened. He doesn't say. He doesn't know what he's going to do. But he knows one thing: he doesn't want to be where his parents are.

Another Matt Soul Sad Tale

Walking home, all Matt could think about was Vic - a kid at school who always messed with him for no reason. Vic would take his money and stuff him in his locker every afternoon. But this particular day, Vic said something that really threw Matt off. "I know what happened, I know why you act anti-social, Dude you need to start sticking up for yourself." Matt was confused. Vic didn't mess with him all day which was strange. What did Vic know? That question ran through his head all day. Opening the door he could hear the television. Knowing that his father was home, he ran up the steps to his room. Little did he know, his father was already in his room waiting for him. "What are you doing in here?" Matt asked. "Don't ask questions boy, you know what to do, lay on the bed," his dad demanded. Matt did as he was told, afraid not to cooperate. Matt cried as his dad turned him over and straddled him. Matt is really angry and hurt as he feels his dad enjoying the escapade. The front door opened. "Hunny, Matt come get the groceries," his Mom yelled. Dad told Matt to dry his face and not to say a word to his mother. “Or I will hurt you,” he threatened, raising a fist. His Dad scurried down the stairs. Matt was so fed up with everything. He hated his father. And he was scared too. Way too scared to say anything to his mother. As soon as night came, Matt snuck out of the house without looking back. He ran away with a few clothes, and all his feelings and problems inside. Two weeks later, Matt was found dead in a park. No one never knew why except for Vic.
